There’s lots of camps going on this weekend - if you are away from home, I hope you have a great time!  Please send me  a report and/or some photos and we can add them to the galleries on the website.

There are lots of events coming up:

Kayaking.

As in previous years Helensburgh Canoe Club  is offering a chance for 8 young people to learn how to paddle kayak and canoes. The course starts Tuesday 18th April for 10 weeks, and runs every Tuesday and Thursday for 10 weeks. Both sessions are a necessity.  It culminates in a Canoe Camp on the weekend of the 24th/25th June. Preference is given to those between 12 and 18 but we will consider younger Scouts and Parents. Anyone interested should email Euan_Forrest@msn.com.

(Please note, this event is not a Scout run event and is the responsibility of Helensburgh Canoe Club).

Explorer Belt - United Arab Emirates

The Explorer Belt provides you with an amazing opportunity to explore new countries, discover interesting and different cultures, meet and interact with local people and share these experiences with your peers when you return.

This is a great opportunity for young people to travel to United Arab Emirates (UAE) to complete their Explorer Belt in a very unusual destination.  From paddling in the clear waters of the Arabian Gulf, walking along the beaches of the Gulf of Oman, climbing through the mountains in the north, resting beside an oasis, sailing in a Dhow or riding on a camel, you can guarantee this will be like no other Explorer Belt.

The trip is open to all members of The Scout Association who have had their 16th birthday by 14th June 2018 and have not celebrated their 25th birthday by 22nd April 2019.

The total cost for the expedition will not exceed £1,300 unless air fares increase significantly from their current levels. The SHQ International Explorer Belt Team will be able to confirm the exact amount once we know numbers and have confirmed the flight bookings.

LGBTI Youth Gathering

Scouts Scotland is excited to be part of the LGBTI Youth Gathering in Dumfries on 14-15 April, and we are looking for five young people aged between 14-25 to join us.

The weekend, hosted by LGBT Youth Scotland and Dumfries and Galloway Council, will be a great opportunity to work with young people from all over Scotland to create positive change and take part in some fab workshops. Find out more here: https://www.scouts.scot/…/e…/lgbti-national-youth-gathering/

Have a great week

James
